Thorlabs’ Mobile Photonics Lab Returns to Rochester

Demo of how Optics Impact our Lives

Thorlabs, a leading designer and manufacturer of photonics equipment for research, manufacturing, and biomedical applications, has brought its Mobile Photonics Lab back to Rochester to raise awareness of optics and photonics career opportunities. This Mobile Photonics Lab offers hands-on experiences with technologies like medical imaging, environmental sensing, and high-speed internet.

The lab shows how photonics impacts daily life and inspires careers in this evolving field, which offers diverse opportunities for various skill sets. The lab will be at Monroe Community College today until 4PM and the University of Rochester tomorrow 10AM-4PM.

Jennifer Cable, Thorlabs president, is featured in this GRE Why ROC segment with WROC TV’s Brennan Somers. She notes that “Rochester is actually world famous for precision optics manufacturing and photonics.” Watch the full interview.
