Strengthening the Local Food, Farming, and Agricultural Economy
Grow NY, a business competition focused on fostering innovation in the food and agriculture sectors attracts high-growth startups from around the world. Participating companies have a chance to compete for up to $1M in cash prizes.
This year’s grand prize went to Unibaio, a company that develops particles using upcycled waste to enhance the effectiveness of pesticides and similar products, reducing costs and environmental impact in large-scale food production. The competition positively impacts the food, farming, and agricultural economy, with many finalists staying in the region to set up operations, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity by leveraging local infrastructure and existing food systems.
Two finalists were companies from the Greater Rochester, NY region — Udderways, an innovation changing the dairy landscape and Zordi a process that is bringing autonomy and AI into the greenhouse.
